That time already?

Good god, it’s almost 2019. How can this be?
I’m not sure I believe it, seems far more likely to be an evil ruse of some kind. But for the sake of argument, let’s just assume that it actually is New Year’s Eve…

So that was 2018, eh?
I mean it wasn’t a total suck-fest, if you ignored politics. And if you didn’t - or couldn’t - ignore politics, well then you probably spent much of the year staring blankly into the middle distance muttering “Oh for f*ck’s sake” under your breath as a way of dealing with that particular moment’s existential crisis (and there were so very many of them to deal with).

On a personal level, 2018 had it’s ups and downs. I joined the T’aint Modern gallery in Kirkby Stephen, I sold a few paintings, even did my first commission. Didn’t make enough money to live on but I did manage to get a job in a nearby pub so things aren’t too bad at all. Check out the Paintings section to have a look at what I’ve managed to cobble together thus far.
On the downside, I do remember stating definitively, with no room for doubt, that I would finish writing the sequel to Heroes Wanted this year. Technically the year isn’t over yet but it seems unlikely that I’m going to churn out the tens of thousands of words out that I would need to drag the story over the finish line, to say nothing of the editing and so on, before the clock strikes midnight tonight!
So bit of an epic fail on my part there. Alas, the need to earn money drained a lot of the time and energy I might otherwise have been able to devote to getting it done. Also I’m very lazy and easily distracted.
My sincere apologies to anyone who was looking forward to it. I swear, it is still in the works and I will get it finished in 2019. Really. I mean it this time.

Anyway, I hope that 2019 is better for all of us. Be excellent to one another, and have a very happy new year!

Lastly, spare a thought for anyone who has to work tonight…like me, for example!
