Kendra Williams, a previously unadventurous history teacher, has seized life by the horns, venturing into the stars and across the galaxy, led by the promise of eternal love to leave Earth behind and move to the distant desert world of Danelon IV. Unfortunately, eternity turns out to be less time than it takes Kendra to pass through customs and leave Danelon’s spaceport.
Now lacking any love, eternal or otherwise, she resigns herself to continuing in her teaching job until she can save enough money to buy a ticket back home to Earth and bring the whole sorry adventure to an end.
Fate, however, has other ideas, fate that appears in the shape of the devil-may-care Aimee Westmorland – aggressively Irish mech pilot, desert scavenger and owner of a suspiciously well-armed wheelchair.
Before she knows what’s happening, Kendra’s left her life in the classroom behind, carried away by Aimee for a wild ride of salvaging wrecked battlemechs, dangerous predators, sentient AIs, vicious bandits, cold-eyed corporate agents and life-threatening sandstorms.
Jump aboard and hang on tight - Aimee’s started rolling, and once she’s got some speed up there’s no stopping her.
